In John, Chapter 8, Jesus reminds His followers that He is the Light of the World and if we follow Him, we will not walk in darkness. Then He also tells them which believed on Him that if they continued in His Word, then they would be His disciples indeed. I thought about how important that word “continue” was in that sentence. Being His disciple depends on whether we continue in His Word or not.
If we look at our lives I hope we can honestly say that we have continued and we are continuing in His Word each day. The Apostle Paul echoes words similar in his First letter to the Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” Amen!
