Ever notice in life, some people you meet you instantly like and enjoy interacting with, while others you have to work and work to like and feel comfortable around? I’m not sure why that is. One of the things I love about Jesus is he was always Jesus, love or hate him, it never mattered to him. He was always secure in who he was. He never seemed like he needed to win anyone’s acceptance or favor; never needed to impress anyone; didn’t care if you were offended with what he spoke. He always spoke the truth, like it or not.

Well, I’m finally back to my Blog. I took January off, I guess you could say I blog-slid. As I grow older I find myself wanting to talk less and think more. I guess that carries over into my struggle to blog also. Oh, don’t misunderstand me, I can still talk with the best of them, but my desire isn’t as strong. Which brings me to my point..cell phones.

It’s hard to be joyful sometimes at the Christmas season. Oh, I know the angels sang “Peace on Earth, Good Will toward Men”. And I know that our God gives us “peace that passes all understanding” when we seek him in prayer, but this world is anything but a peaceful place. The violence, the suffering, the hungry, the sick, the poor, the brokenhearted, and of course so many oppressed and lost. Christmas can be a tough time for so many hurting and burdened with the heartaches of this life!

One of the most frightening accounts in the New Testament, for me, is where Jesus invites his disciples to take a boat ride. It’s a beautiful day; life is good. Oh, it’s good to be alive and love Jesus! But wait just a moment…all that is about to change. Clouds, a storm approaching…it can’t be…the sun was just shining brightly moments ago. Oh, but the waves are getting worse. Let’s row harder; we can handle this…or can we? This looks bad. I’ve never been through this kind of storm before. I can’t make it…help, Jesus help! Where is Jesus anyway?

As you sit there listening and your blood pressure rises, you’re thinking, “if only I could speak to a real person”. Welcome to our world today; high-tech and void of personal contact and personal relationships. We live more in isolation than past generations.
